/typical migration
- Faithful to your design: Keep your current look, or take the chance to refresh it.
- Hand-coded: No themes, no page builders, no plugins.
- Content migrated: Pages, posts, images, and forms all carried over.
- SEO preserved: URLs and metadata kept intact, with 301 redirects for anything that moves.
- Pass Google Lighthouse audits: In all categories (Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, & SEO) from Google’s PageSpeed Insights Report.
- You own the code: Delivered in a GitHub repository under your account.
Let's talk
How it works
The process
- Send your URL: Share your WordPress site through the form on this page.
- Get a fixed quote: I review the site and reply within 1-2 business days with a price and timeline.
- Development: I hand-code your site in Astro and migrate every page, post, and image.
- Review: You compare the build against your live site on a private staging link, and I refine until it’s right.
- Launch: I point your domain at the new site with 301 redirects in place, so visitors and search engines never hit a dead end.
What I’ll need
- Your website URL.
- WordPress admin access: Temporary, for a clean export of your content.
- A page list: Anything you want dropped, merged, or added along the way.
- Functionality notes: Forms, popups, or any integrations you rely on.
- Domain access at launch: Or an intro to whoever manages your DNS.

-
Built for SEO
Clean semantic HTML and fast load times give your site an edge that plugin-heavy WordPress can’t match.

How much does it cost?
Most WordPress to Astro migrations land between $2,000 and $4,000.
The quote depends on the number of pages and posts, the complexity of your design, and how much plugin functionality needs to be rebuilt (forms, sliders, integrations).
After I review your site, you get a fixed quote within 1-2 business days. No hourly billing, no surprises.
Will my site look the same?
That's up to you. By default I recreate your current design faithfully: spacing, type, colors, and details carried over with care.
Many clients treat the migration as a chance to refresh: tightening spacing, modernizing type, or fixing things that always bothered them. Small improvements like that are included; a full redesign is quoted separately.
What happens to my SEO rankings?
Protecting your rankings is a core part of the job, and I'm an SEO consultant by trade.
Your URL structure stays intact wherever possible, and anything that moves gets a 301 redirect. Page titles, meta descriptions, and structured data are all carried over.
Sites usually come out ahead: page speed is a ranking factor, and the jump from WordPress to Astro is dramatic.
What about my plugins?
Most plugins exist to patch gaps that a hand-coded site doesn't have.
Caching and speed plugins become unnecessary. SEO plugins are replaced by clean markup built in from the start. Forms are rebuilt on modern serverless functions. Sliders and galleries are hand-coded, without the bloat.
If a plugin does something unusual, I'll flag how I'd handle it in your quote before you commit.
How do I edit content without WordPress?
Three ways, depending on how hands-on you want to be:
- I handle it: My hosting & maintenance plan ($75/mo) includes an hour of development time each month for edits and improvements. Here's everything it covers:
- Development time: 1 hour/mo for updates or small improvements.
- Support: Dedicated account manager. Edit requests are typically completed within 1-2 days.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Request website-level SEO work (See examples) using your 1 hr/mo.
- Infrastructure: Secure cloud hosting (Netlify or equivalent), global CDN + edge caching for fast worldwide delivery. SSL included.
- Backups: GitHub version control for custom sites. Daily backups (each stored for 90 days) for WordPress sites.
- SMTP: Up to 5,000 form & notification emails/month.
- Software updates: Weekly*
- A CMS for your blog: If you publish often, I can wire up a lightweight CMS so you write and publish posts yourself, no developer needed.
- Your team handles it: You get the full GitHub repository, so any developer can pick it up.
Will my blog posts come over too?
Yes. Every post is migrated, including images, categories, and URLs.
Posts move into Astro's content system, where each one is a simple text file in your repository instead of a row in a database. Clean, portable, and easy to back up.
I'm an agency. Can you white-label this?
Absolutely. Many of my Astro projects come from design studios and agencies who keep the client relationship while I handle development.
See the white-label web design page for how that partnership works.
What if I want a completely new design?
I can help with that too. My custom web design service covers the full process: strategy, copywriting, design, and development.
Or start with a stylescape to define your brand's visual direction first.
